Industrial Visits and its Objective

 

Industrial tour ia a specially designed itinerary integrating Industries for a visit along with other tourism destination,the whole idea is to encourage the learning through observation of industrial practices and making students aware of internal working of companies.The main objective of Industrial Visit is to lessen the gap between classroom teaching and practical working environment and to bring  in some positive intangible changes to the personalities of students which results from long distance group travel and industrial visits.

Industrial Visit to FANUC, Bangalore

 

An Industrial visit to FANUC,Bangalore ,the world’s largest manufacturer  of Programmable logic controllers and CNC machines was intended to give the students a chance to get familiarized with the methods followed in the production  of CNC write from designing to debugging. The training  began by a short presentation about FANUC and its various products and then opportunities at FANUC by the Chief Engineer Mr.Pramod. They showed the students some of the CNC machines that were ready to be delivered after servicing . They showed the students how a program is written in the CNC machine and how it is executed. They explained every minute details like how the breadboards are cleaned and how the debugging is done The students got an idea about the different areas for which Industries works and core concepts related with current industry needs. Students were elated to visit such a company where they could see many varieties of tasks being performed before them.  The students got an idea of the  various career opportunities in the automation  industries. The company persons also appreciated our students after the question answer sessions. The visit  gave was very informative for students and it gave them a  good learning experience.

 

 

 

 

 

Industrial Visit to Banasura Sagar Dam

 

Another exciting experience for the BMCE students were Banasura Sagar dam which is constructed over a tributary river of Kabini River in the Wayanad district of Kerala state of India. It is the largest earth dam in India and the second largest of its kind in Asia. The dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders. This project was started with the aim to help and support another power generation project named Kakkayam HEP Project of the same district. Another intention of this dam was also to provide drinking water the residents of the surrounding area as the area faced dryness in the summer season. The officers explained the infrastructure of the dam.

 

Industrial Visit to Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore

 

Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum, Bangalore (VITM), a constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, was established in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya. The information regarding different machines, information technology, space technology, Bio technology, Electronics and Communication created a great impact on students.the astronauters  Kalpana Chawla, Rakesh Sharma and Sunitha Williams. In the second floor there are two sections space technology displayed the India's advent in space technology like and Bio technology had displayed charts about cells in the blood, development of cells, tissues etc. In this section they had also stated how to handle nuclear wastes and how are nuclear reactors harmful. In the third floor there is Electronics department clearly explained how micro chips are prepared and how programs are inserted into it.

 

 

 Industrial Visit to Vegaland, Kochi

At Vegaland the students visited the generator room the officers there explained in detail how the power supply is continuously maintained in the premises , and how the transformer stwiching takes place from auto to manual mode depending upon the load requirements.The told the students about how a battery back uo  is provided in case of power failures. The students understood the detailed working of the step down transformers and how the  supply from KSEB is regulated through out the place depending on the requirement.
