IT Infrastructure

More than 10 Ultra modern computer labs, Research and Development Center, Academy centers of Microsoft, Cisco and HP, Tie-ups with MICROSOFT, CISCO, HP, National Instruments, Xilinx, Yokogawa, Prolific, and Autodesk are major attractions of BMCE. Training programs and Project guidance to the students are given by experts of World’s leading companies like Microsoft, HP, Cisco, Xilinx, Yokogawa, Honeywell, National Instruments, Prolific, Autodesk Certifications, and Pentagram Research. Tie up with Pentagram Research, a leading Research Organization in India, provided an ideal environment for our students and faculty members to redefine their Research Knowledge horizons.

 

Campus Networking

It has been the vision of BMCE to promote greater technical research and understanding and providing better administrative resource that moves the college northwards in its pursuit of excellence we have integrated excellent network milieu that impedes the exchange of data and allows for smooth flow of innovation and technological advancements to provide the best IT enabled services for faculty and students alike. We have a centre dedicated wholly to serve this purpose. With over 500 systems available at BMCE to provide the best quality networking, software, data exchange and reprographic facilities this is a novel step in achieving technical excellence. We have a heterogeneous networking system that works on Windows, Solaris and Linux platforms. The centre is assisted by excellent dedicated internet lines.

BMCE has set up a new ultra high-speed networking across the campus with edge to edge Fibre Optic Backbone connectivity powered by Clipsal. CISCO 4503 Core Switch with redundancy is used at the core layer. CISCO 3570 L3 switches are used at distribution layer. Wireless connectivity is made available with the help of three dimensional Wireless Access Points at key positions to provide Internet access to the faculty.

The FortiGate-310 series of hardware firewall is used to deliver integrated security. Eight hardware-accelerated interfaces (expandable to 12) are there to enforce policies between network segmentation points for increased security while preserving switch-like performance. The modular expansion slots on the FortiGate-311B provide for additional throughput or increased disk-based storage.

HP Network Attached Storage is used in our Data Centre to deliver Windows-powered unified network storage that is easy to install, easy to manage, and easy to expand to workgroup IT environment. All our data are centrally stored in NAS using RAID technology.

 The 16-port DSR 4030 KVM over IP switch provides four simultaneous digital paths for remote access and BIOS-level control of all connected servers and serial-based devices in our data center. We can remotely power cycle connected devices and we have external modem support when the network is down. The DSR4 030 switch features an on-board Web interface compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox, or Netscape for access and control of our servers over IP. 

Using the DSView® 3 management software to manage the DSR4030 switch adds the benefit of Virtual Media. This lets us remotely load software for file transfers, application and OS patches, and diagnostic testing. DSView 3 software also gives us a secure method to access and control our servers and network devices from a single interface. Its hub and spoke architecture provides failover access authentication. Users authenticate to a central management server (the hub) or one of 15 mirror servers (the spokes). SNMP and IPMI support are also provided. 

Data Centre

 

Some of the outstanding infrastructure facilities like WiFi and wired Network with Fiber backbone connectivity powered by CISCO switches with High Speed leased Line 1:1 Internet Connectivity and controlled from a Centralized Data Center - First of its kind in an Engineering College. Hardware Firewall, Remotely controllable KVM over IP Switch, Network Attached Storage (NAS) Device, Cisco Layer 4 Chassis Switch, and all Cisco L3 Manageable switches are attractive features of our Data Center.

The data centre is a part of the well connected network that allows students and faculty to use resources to the fullest. IT operations are a crucial aspect of most organizational operations and we at BMCE realize this.

Wi- Fi Access

The entire BMCE campus including Cafeteria and library are fully Wi-Fi enabled facilitating anywhere everywhere learning. More than 500 computers on-campus are linked to the internet through leased line and broadband connections with the network of over 10 high end servers powered by Cisco switches and managed from a centralized Data Centre. The internet activity is not only restricted to the college premises but true to the BMCE tradition and innovation we have a sprawling WiFi network that transcends all barriers. We seek to provide education at your convenience- a prized BMCE initiative.

 

Computer Centre & Ultra Modern Computer Labs

 

The college has 10 new well operational air-conditioned modern computer labs with latest equipments and licensed software of Microsoft, Adobe, Corel Draw, Code Gear, Autodesk, Matlab, Labview and Orcad. All computers are connected through LAN and managed from the centralized Data Centre. BMCE provides 2 1:1 high speed leased line and broadband internet connectivity to offer round the clock Internet access to students and faculty in order to facilitate them to stay connected with the information thruway. We have computers that are upgraded regularly in keeping with technological developments, and we frequently procure licensed software depending upon the curriculum requirements and latest trends of use in the industry. Centralized UPS back up facility is used in all labs.

 

The college is blessed with a dedicated and leased internet line that is available for the students and faculty alike for their use.

 

Software

 

The BMCE repository boasts of software that bridges the gap between the industry and college. Licensed Services from Microsoft, Oracle, Adobe, Codegear, RedHat , Fedora, Ubuntu, MatLab, Autocad, and OrCADare made available to the students to further enhance their skills. We have a good collection of licensed system and application software based on the latest technological innovations and requirements. We encourage students to learn more skills and become complete well rounded industry ready professionals.

MICROSOFT Campus Alliance Programme

With subscription licensing programs, we have the right to run a selection of products, and any upgrades or downgrades of those products, for a designated term. For application, system, and Client Access License (CAL) products, even if the number of computers or users grows, we remain fully licensed throughout the designated term. Microsoft has two subscription licensing programs for education customers. Campus Agreement is for higher education institutions and offers the simplicity of counting people instead of computers.

Subscription licensing offers many benefits, including:

§ Easy compliance. Because all of your institution’s computers and users are covered throughout the subscription term, it is easy to ensure that the institution is fully licensed for the products selected.

§ Low administration. Subscription licensing helps eliminate the need to track licenses for the selected licensed products on every computer.

§ Current technology. With subscription licensing, our licensed users can run the most current version of the licensed products included in our subscription. Plus, our institution automatically receives installation media for products that upgrade during the licensed term.

§ Excellent value. Software Assurance Membership—including support resources, tools, and E-Learning courses—is included with our license coverage.

MATLAB

We use MATLAB for the project works and laboratory practicals for ECE, AEI, EEE and CSE students. MATLAB is a programming environment for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization, and numerical computation. Using MATLAB, we can solve technical computing problems faster than with traditional programming languages, such as C, C++, and Fortran.We can use MATLAB in a wide range of applications, including signal and image processing, communications, control design, test and measurement, financial modeling and analysis, and computational biology. For a million engineers and scientists in industry and academia, MATLAB is the language of technical computing.

OrCAD

OrCAD is a proprietary software tool suite used primarily for electronic design automation. The software is used mainly by electronic design engineers and electronic technicians to create electronic schematics and electronic prints for manufacturing printed circuit boards. We are using OrCAD for doing regular laboratory works and project works of students of ECE and AEI.

LabVIEW

LabVIEW is system design software that provides engineers and scientists with the tools needed to create and deploy measurement and control systems through unprecedented hardware integration. LabVIEW inspires you to solve problems, accelerates your productivity, and gives you the confidence to continually innovate. We use LabVIEW to give training to the students of ECE and AEI. Some of the students have done their main project work in LabVIEW.

AutoDesk

We have procured AutoDesk complete suit with 30 user perpetual license. AutoDesk is installed in the CAD/CAM lab and it is mainly used by the students and faculty of Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering departments.
