Technology has leap frogged many a mile in the last century especially in the last two decades the world has been reduced to a global village courtesy the advent of the Electronics era. Electronics and Communication has served at the fore of this technical revolution. From the large washing machines to the smallest cellular phones, electronics and communication has found its way in many a home and continues to flourish. At BMCE we serve as the catalyst for students to polish their skills. We offer a four year programme in Electronics and Communication that would lead to a degree being awarded in the same by the University of Kerala.Technology has leap frogged many a mile in the last century especially in the last two decades the world has been reduced to a global village courtesy the advent of the Electronics era. As emerging technology becomes ever-increasingly complex, there has never been a more exciting time to pursue a degree in Electronics and Communication engineering. The course is designed to give the students both the theoretical and practical background in all frontier areas of Electronics and Communication so that they are constantly aware of the rapid changes taking place in this field.
Communication laboratory has the most priority among the various labs in the curriculum of Electronics and communication engineering students for undergraduate courses. It handles various practical experiments in the field of analog and digital communication
This is a lab where the students learn the characteristics of different electronic devices and the basics of circuit design and implementation. The lab contains all necessary measuring instruments, display instruments, power supplies and function generators for the students to do experiments. Apart from Electronics and Communication students, third semester students of Information Technology and Computer Science disciplines also make use of this lab.
The laboratory is equipped with microwave benches at J band and H band , which includes expensive devices like klystron tubes, gun diodes, VSWR meter, directional couplers etc .
The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has a fully fledged product development laboratory. The lab has all facilities which provide a clear cut idea of the processes behind the Electronic Product Design. The lab caters to the requirement of students for carrying out mini-project and major project in the department itself.
The key features of the laboratory are 1. A Printed Circuit Board Lab, 2.Licensed Simulation and Design Tools, 3. Facilities required to fabricate any B Tech level electronic products such as a) Workshop Tables, b) Bench wise c) Drilling Machines, d) Grinding machine e) Bending machine f) Sheet cutter, g)transformer winding machine etc. The lab also stock all required items to make models of the products before actual fabrication.
The students perform experiments using Digital Signal Processor trainers and execute programs for signal generation and processing. The software facilities include the following:
Code Composer Studio MatLab LabVIEW In addition to computers, Arbitrary function generators and Digital Storage Oscilloscopes are available in the lab.
The Embedded Systems lab houses training facilities for programming various embedded systems and microcontrollers and its interfacing.
Electronics and Communication, Information Technology and Computer science students make use of this lab for the realization of different logic circuits and for the simulation of certain circuits. This lab is equipped with Digital Logic IC trainers, Microcontroller trainers and analog and digital IC testers apart from the function generators and measuring and display instruments.
Project Lab provides the implementation of new ideas of students. Iot,robotics, artificial intelligence ,embedded systems based projects were done.
Seminar hall is equipped with ceiling-mounted LCD projector, large 12ft x 10ft motorized screen, and audio system and has got a seating capacity of 150. It is also equipped with videoconferencing technology , hand-held and lapel microphones. It is used for Conducting Classes, Seminars and Distinguished Lectures.
To mould perfect electronics and communication engineers by providing them with value added technical education and lead them to serve societal needs across the globe.
• Enroot highly potential, professional and disciplined technocrats abiding academic excellence and motivate them to take up research and innovations. • Impart computational and simulation skills in the state of art electronics and communication engineering to sense the infirmity of nature and its conservation with societal commitment

The department organized the certified training programs for the students on Image Processing,VLSI,Embedded Systems,Robotics etc which are sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science ,Technology and Environment.
An expert talk was conducted by Padmavibhushan Dr.G Madhavan Nair (Former ISRO chairman Secretary to Dept of space,Govt of India).
A technical session about 3G & 4G wireless technology was elucidated by Mr.Anil Kumar, Regional Manager BSNL.
A webinar on RTL design and functional verification by MAVEN SILICON was conducted
BMCE has conducted a technical exhibition titled BODHI 19, around 2000 Students from nearby schools have participated in the event. Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering have conducted technical competition and exhibitions of ISRO ,bsnl etc.
Electronics and Communication Engineering in BMCE has turned out a large number of graduates over the last eighteen years and has its alumni spread across the world. The Department desires to have every single alumnus very much a part of the set up even today and the college takes a lot of pride in each one. They are individual ambassadors for BMCE. The alumni portal will help both the college and the alumni to get in touch with each other. The alumni can get any kind of information about the college, fellow students, juniors, conferences, alumni meets, featured alumni, success stories of alumni using this portal. We would like to share all that and more with every one of those who have fond memories of the BMCE.
Final year projects were selected by startup mission, Kerala and funds were sanctioned to enhance the product functionally and commercially.
